Studiolo è lieto di presentare il secondo solo show dell’artista Guendalina Cerruti (Milano, 1992) intitolato “Love You.

Studiolo is pleased to present the second solo show of artist Guendalina Cerruti (Milan, 1992), ‘Love You. Bye’, a yet unpublished series of sculptures and paintings created during her time of study at the RCA in London.

Displaying her concern for the everyday, all the works reveal an artistic practice that focuses on the reworking of objects that originate in the private sphere but are able to maintain a constant tension with a universe of collective and socially recognizable symbols; a continuous sliding individual detail and macroscopic reality that pushes the point of view towards an anthropocentric vision of the world, reducing it to a small ‘globe’ of experiences in which one can project oneself comfortably.

The life of the artist is here schematized and enclosed within a relationship between simple symbols such as snow-globes, paintings of constellations, a globe or emotional reflections like ‘I never meant to hurt you’ or ‘Looking Cute’, each a microcosm that induces the observers to put themselves at the centre of an infinite other.

Like a postcard sent to Milan from a long journey away, the exhibit is also a homage to the English experience lived by the artist and certain symbols of her routine, such as the fabric from the public transportation in London, bearing the symbols of the London Eye and the points of Westminster in its graphic design, act as a conceptual plot linking the sculptural works.

In this exhibit Guendalina Cerruti reflects on the contemporary practise of ‘documenting the self’, a widespread contemporary obsession that places the individual in a continuous interior insecurity, stuck between the presumed value of the sharing of the one's own experiences and the anxiety of global judgement.
