
On THURSDAY APRIL 9, Studiolo is pleased to announce “Le impronte del cielo” the solo exhibition of Joséphine Topolanski
Paris-based artist born in 1998, her work focuses on the creation of a cult that blends ufology, religions and technomysticism; a symbiosis between different cultures - scientific, spiritual and folkloric - through which to nurture a new, personal and unprecedented system of beliefs. Always poised between the documentary and the imaginative, the visible and the invisible, the true and the false - dichotomous polarities at the basis of most narratives, myths and religions in the world - her works can be read as a series of parafacts, the same that art historian Carrie Lambert-Beatty defines with the term “parafiction”: that labyrinthine intertwining of ambiguous yet at the same time plausible information that constantly calls into question our assumptions of truth.
In “le impronte del cielo” Topolanski seek to capture the uncapturable, that which, by its very nature, escapes any form of grasp. It is that trascendent component, of which direct experience is not possible, but which humankind has always sought to fill by attributing a body to that which has none; an invisibility that, unable to manifest itself in its own essence, thus deposits itself into matter, condensing into objects or ritual action…into all those tangible forms that do not truly contain it, but evoke it.
On these premises, the artists immerses us in a space composed by ambiguous traces, between technological residues, devices linked to not fully decipherable cults and oracular figures outside a clear temporal line; embedded in the shadow if their own auras, the works lose their self-referential dimension to become shrouds, point of condensation of these presences. Spaces of transition that invite us to immerse ourselves - even if only for a moment, …or maybe longer - in an alternative version of our reality.
Diplomata all’ENSAD nel 2021, ha esposto a 100% L’EXPO Villette (2022), alla 73ª edizione di Jeune Création (2023), al CAC Brétigny (2024), così come presso la Galerie Aline Vidal di Parigi e Chantiers Boîte Noire di Montpellier. Ha co-creato un ciclo di mostre con la curatrice indipendente Salomé Fau ed esposto al Le Plateau, Frac Île-de-France, in seguito alla sua residenza a Villa Belleville (2024). Residente ad Artagon Pantin nel 2025, ha presentato il suo lavoro al Kommet Art Center di Lione prima di partire per una residenza a Bucarest con l’Institut Français e Reziden?a9. Il suo lavoro è stato acquisito dal Fondo municipale d’arte contemporanea di Pantin (2022) e dal Fonds d’art contemporain – Paris Collections nell’ambito del programma Jeunes Collectionneurs (2025), presentato ad Art Basel Paris ed ha appena Presentato il suo lavoro al Salon de Montrouge.
